Father’s Day Weekend

June 19, 2015 | It had been three years since my family made it down to the lake, so we figured it was time to make that happen again. Having two little ones sure make things different, but we were prepared with lots to do and see that did NOT involve the boat. Crazy that it’s past mid-June and the Blue Water is still parked in the back corner of the blue shed!

The water-table: this thing is a bigger hit than I could have hoped for.  Both E and cousin B loved splashing around on the deck, and even tolerated being sprayed by their parents using those cush-ball-toys…hilarious for everyone.  I may have scared my sister into spilling her drink using that toy!

With all of the rain we’ve had the water is HIGH, so most of the sitting-area wasn’t visible. But who has time to sit when you are helping toddlers “swim”?! It was B’s first time ever really being in the water besides a bath, so it was a bit more shocking for him.  The water was a bit cold, and he just didn’t LOVE it yet. E on the other hand has had lots of practice, so she was happy as could be in her little floaty. I didn’t have my phone OR my camera for this part, so here’s hoping D caught lots of great moments with the Virb! I did snag a pic of E as we were getting ready to leave with my phone…because, adorable-ness…

2015-06-20 13.33.46-1 2015-06-20 13.34.34We were nearing naptime, so after close to an hour (wow!) we made our way back to the house. Kids napped (after some resistance) and the adults just chilled in the a/c. It was a HOT day with the heat-index over 100, so down-time was mandatory!

2015-06-20 14.54.45 HDROnce the kids were up, back to playtime!  Marbles were another big hit, and B even showed E some crazy “make-all-the-loud-noises-with-toys” moves!  My sister and bro-in-law had to be on major defense with B trying to eat those cool marbles.

2015-06-20 16.56.09While D had to run and help his brother with the boat, the rest of us took a little nature walk up to the bluff. While it was still hot, there was a strong wind so it was actually pretty nice in the shade. I wanted lots of family pics up there, and luckily my family is very understanding!

These little ones are so much fun!

A Day With E

June 15, 2015 | Mondays are my “off” day, so I spend them with E at home or on the go. I’m enjoying these days more and more, and we often pack a LOT of things into the 9-10 hours that Dad is gone. This particular Monday was pretty fun, so I thought I’d mark it down in order to look back at the every-day type stuff that we do!

E is awake by 6:30 or so, and eating breakfast by 7. The forecast was calling for rain later, and with a toddler that must be outside as much as possible I figured the morning was our best chance to make that happen.  So I loaded her up and we were off to the park! Today was the first time she did the big tube slide pretty much by herself. I did this awkward “crawl” behind her just in case…I can’t imagine what it looked like to other people when I popped out of the slide with my purse contents spilling everywhere…

After an hour or so, it was time to think about dinner. I go to yoga Monday nights, so it’s my trade-off to have dinner ready when Dad gets home.  E is a great little helper, since most everything I purchase I hand to her and she gently places tosses it into the cart behind her.  A snack cup almost always helps with patience too!

2015-06-15 09.36.57Once home I unpack (and check on E) then try to get things chopped (multiple checks on E) and put together in the crockpot (with another check on E). Then we usually try to read some books/play with pull-puppy, etc.  By now we are getting closer to lunch time, so I know we better get that together.  You don’t mess around with this girls food!  Deli turkey/cheese/bread, hard boiled eggs, fruit, greek yogurt…just some of the things you’re likely to find on the lunch tray. She’s figured out how to pull her own grapes from the vine and eat them now too.  I just have to supervise that it isn’t the GIANT ones!

2015-06-15 12.24.20It was pouring during lunch, but then the skies cleared and I saw lots of water and puddles out in the cul-de-sac. Prime opportunity to explore! Questionable parenting letting my kid play in the street? Maybe, but teaching her to float a leaf down the curb was pretty darn cute.

We were sitting in the entryway just watching the rain out the front door, when I moved to sit on the first step.  It didn’t take long for E to want to do the same, so there she was just sitting next to me.  She tried to hand me her milk, but when I grabbed it she changed her mind and pulled it back. The sudden release from my hand meant the sippy cup hit her forehead, and she splattered milk across her face.  I just started giggling like crazy, and she did too!  We were just looking at one another laughing…it was so awesome (even if it sounds lame written-out like this).  But I knew I wanted to write it down.  Then it’s 1.5-2 hour naptime, before we are back outdoors for as long as we can until Dad comes home. She’s my tiny-adventurer, and I love it!

Patriotic Swimwear

June 14, 2015 | It was a last-minute decision to run to our neighborhood pool, and the first time her ‘Merica swimsuit made an appearance.  So naturally I snapped about 10 pics before we started walking.  First, BABY THIGHS ARE THE BEST.  Second, how does my child already have a farmers-tan when it’s rained most of the days of Summer?

IMG_0359a IMG_0365a IMG_0369a IMG_0373aThen I snapped a couple images with my phone at the pool too.  Because the cuteness…my Lord the cuteness!

Food Truck Frenzy

June 12, 2015 | It’s no surprise I like to get out and do things with E. Each weekend is an opportunity to do something fun, but weekdays there are more and more things happening in our great city!  When I saw the posts about a Food Truck Frenzy, I was in. I thought we could wander from truck to truck, each of us getting the exact food we wanted. Boy was I wrong. This event was promoted way too much, in fact I ran into almost 15 different people there.  And the ones I was SUPPOSED to see never even managed to make it to where we were!  The lines were long, and E played in the dirt so much that she was filthy.  I was fine with that, until she spilled water all over and turned it to MUD.  Did I mention we just purchased her new convertible carseat?  That meant using about 20 wet wipes, AND a naked ride home for her…oh well, I snagged some cute pics while we were there!

Farmers Market

June 3, 2015 | We have lots of great Farmers Markets in our area, and in the Summer there is some live music to go with it. D came home from work and we were out the door to check it out!  If we want E to love music like we do, we’ve got to get her there as often as possible, right?  The tricky part right now with E is keeping her hands out of all the water-puddles and mud.  It’s like a moth to a flame…she wants to touch it all!

Family Birthday Party

May 31, 2015 | E’s cousin Jamie had a 30th Birthday party at the park on a Sunday afternoon…complete with potluck instructions, a playground, and an organized volleyball tournament for those that wanted to participate!  My kind of party for sure.  I had to leave early for a photo shoot, but this was E’s first introduction to sand.  A huge hit for the Bean (getting dirty and all) and she had a great time.  Happiest of Birthdays to Jamie!

Before we left for the party, E had to rock her favorite outdoor toy; the MOWER
