M Bedtime

April 20, 2019 | We drove home from H-Easter late, as you fell asleep in your car seat. While you’d had a decent afternoon nap, the day had been full of activity and you were EXHAUSTED.

We pulled in the garage, and I gently lifted you from the car. You watched as I made a 7 Oz bottle at the kitchen sink, and we went upstairs to your room. I decided you were so tired I’d leave you in the onesie and zip your sleep sack for the night.

As soon as the owl nightlight/sound machine was on, a star pattern glowed on the ceiling; a clear sign E had touched the settings…

We rocked as your chubby finger pointed at the stars, quietly drinking the bottle. In the light I could see your heavy eyelids, but curiosity always wins.  The bottle ran empty, and I gave you the lamb-pacey, your favorite for bedtime. Usually I can lay you right in the crib wide awake, but this night I rocked you mostly to sleep. I don’t know how many more times this will happen, so I reveled in each detail. Your sweet sleeping face and tiny hands holding that lambs tag…love you my girl M.

Photo from the end of May, but you get the idea… 🙂
